Description

Give your eighth graders the opportunity to delve into Acts, Joshua, and Judges. Your child will appreciate learning under a master teacher while following classroom routines such as memorizing verses, singing hymns, and listening to fun Bible stories. Some of the stories your children will learn include Paul’s conversion, Joshua’s courageous stand, and Gideon’s miraculous victory.

This captivating study of “the heavens and the earth,” the characteristics of God’s creation, will transport your teen from the depths of the earth to the distant galaxies! His teachers at Abeka College guided him to study geology, oceanography, meteorology, astronomy and environmental science. Particularly inspiring are the studies of rocks, soils and fossils and the proof they reveal that this earth was created by God, not by the process of evolution. Your teen and his video classmates will also learn step-by-step how to choose a problem, plan, experiment, report, and present findings from a science project.

Abeka’s mathematics curriculum for all levels is presented as part of God’s truth and order in the universe. An important goal is to give students a glimpse into mathematics as God’s creative language! This particular course can be considered an important bridge between arithmetic and more advanced mathematics at the high school level. It begins with concepts and procedures built from cumulative reinforcement algebra. Then there’s work on topics like polynomial multiplication and division, complementary and complementary angles, and algebra word problems, providing your teen with a bridge to Algebra I.

Your child will love learning about interesting people and events. The course’s emphasis on faith, patriotism and moral conviction will make history very meaningful to him. Incorporating civic education and programs will teach your children how government works and how to use the gift of political expression that is easily taken for granted. While he enjoys his classroom experience, exciting lessons from Abeka College’s history teachers will show him how God’s influence on people and nations determines their course in human history. He will also study geography, which will help him better understand history because it tells us where it happened. When he gets to know the students in the videos, he feels like he’s part of the class. The teacher will even pause to give “student viewing” a chance to participate in review and drills.

By providing your teen with an excellent language studies education, you are giving him important skills for his life mission. The benefits of learning to communicate well cannot be overstated! Abeka English courses are known for their systematic study of grammar and composition, spelling and word usage, and inspiring literature.

  • Literature – A study of literature would not be complete without exposure to writers such as Robert Frost, Pearl Barker, and Carl Sandburg. Unforgettable options based on missionary and military adventures speak directly to readers’ hearts and inspire perseverance and courage. Class discussions and essay questions develop analytical skills.
  • Grammar and Composition – An in-depth look at punctuation protocols, antecedents and adjuncts, diagrams and clauses. Your teen will combine his understanding of grammar and usage with research and writing skills to produce high-quality compositions.
  • Vocabulary, spelling, poetry—knowing the best words is often what distinguishes the best communicators. 20 weekly spelling words and 10 weekly vocabulary words from literature will get your teen one step closer to this goal. Along with his video classmates, he will recite nine inspiring poems, including Frost’s “Halt in the Woods.”

Your teen will gain lifelong benefits from these courses as he is challenged to grow in knowledge and skills by a master teacher who provides clear explanations. As your teen becomes more familiar with his video classmates, he’ll feel like a part of the class. The teacher will even pause to give the “students watching” a chance to participate.

Pre-recorded online video streams or DVDs give you the flexibility to set your own daily schedule. Video rental offers a full 12 months to complete 170 lessons.
