Description
Give your children the opportunity to learn and apply God’s Word in the classroom with other young people! While he enjoys the classroom experience, his inspiring Bible teacher from Abeka College will lead him and his video classmates on a journey with Abraham to Canaan and then with Abraham’s descendants from slavery in Egypt to the Promised Land. God’s mercy and patience in dealing with them is a blessed lesson! From term two, their journey will take them into the New Testament and study the life of Christ, our example and model. The textbook for this course is the Word of God. Targeted at the heart and mind, these courses are exciting narratives accompanied by visuals. As your child becomes familiar with the students in the videos, he will feel like he is part of the class. He would sing hymns and Bible refrains, recite scripture, and pray with his video classmates.
Abeka English courses are renowned for their systematic study of grammar and composition, spelling and word usage, and inspiring literature. Why not give your child a quality language learning education from qualified professionals in the comfort of your own home? By providing your child with an excellent language learning education, you are providing him with important skills for his life mission. The benefits of learning to communicate well cannot be overstated!
- Grammar and Composition – The basics of traditional grammar teach your child how language works and develop his logical thinking. Your teen will write four different types of essays, a character sketch, and more writing apps that will help him strengthen his communication skills.
- Literature—well-written stories about people—chiefs, patriots, professional athletes—can entertain, inspire, and teach young people. Great storytellers like Dickens, O. Henry, and Kipling will build your child’s vocabulary and reading comprehension. This year, your teen will be familiar with famous stories like “A Christmas Carol,” “Robinson Crusoe,” “The Pilgrim’s Progress,” and “Plymouth Plantation.” Thoughtful class discussions and essay questions about the best and most beautiful work ever written, train him to recognize excellent ideas—anything that is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and well reported!
- Vocabulary, spelling, poetry—knowing the best words is often what distinguishes the best communicators. The 20 weekly spelling words and 7 weekly vocabulary words from the literature will get your child one step closer to this goal. Moreover, he will recite 7 lyric poems with his video classmates, including “If” by Kipling and “Opportunity” by Rowland Sill.
Your child will gain lifelong benefits from these courses as he is challenged to continually improve in knowledge and skills by master teachers who provide clear explanations.
History is the written record of man; but only by studying it as “his story” can we truly understand the principles and life lessons it teaches us. The story of world history will begin to make sense as your children see nations and individuals rise and fall in response to God’s truth. His Abeka College video teacher will take him and his video classmates through the exciting halls of history with the Egyptians and their pyramids, Rome and its empire, Johann Gutenberg and his printing press, the United States and industry Times, world wars, etc. meet. He will also study geography, which will help him better understand history because it tells us where history happened.
Watch your seventh grader get excited about science as he learns to identify a bird by its song and follows a seed as it sprouts before his eyes. Your child’s study of living things this year—from amuba and bugs to blue whales and dinosaurs—will reveal God’s great design and wisdom to him. His teachers from Abeka College introduced him to new and fascinating features of God’s wonderful world, building on what he already knew about body systems and how they work together. He will be mentored in all the preliminary steps of conducting scientific research, preparing him for future scientific projects.
