Our experienced and creative video teachers bring new ideas to make first grade content come alive. By the end of first grade, your child will have made amazing leaps in learning! He’ll be able to recognize and use all speech sounds – including 132 special sounds – to spell words! With Abeka Academy’s virtual classes, you can easily homeschool multiple children at the same time, even when your family is away.
As your child becomes familiar with the students in the videos, he will feel like he is part of the class. The teacher will even pause to allow “students on the sidelines” to take turns participating in games, competitions, and practices! While enjoying the fun and expanded learning of the classroom experience, your child will benefit from your one-on-one guidance at home, where you can listen to him read and recite, take tests, and check his papers.
Pre-recorded online videos give you the flexibility to set your own daily schedule. The video rental offers a full 12 months to complete the 170 lessons, with the option to purchase the video and book or video (for those who may already own some of the materials and wish to purchase the individual items separately). Both options offer video manuals to help you keep up with the video instructor. Additionally, both options include documented progress reports to document your child’s progress throughout the school year.
Abeka Academy offers two different program types to meet your family’s specific needs. Non-certified programs allow for more course flexibility and rely entirely on tutors to keep track of student records. Certified courses are available for an additional fee and provide official transcripts and reliable recording by our academic team. Whichever option you choose, academic help is available via email, live chat, or phone.

Writing — Studies show that learning to write in cursive not only feels more natural than handwriting, but also improves your child’s brain and memory function. Phonics, spelling and creative writing are part of daily writing practice.
